Spot Plays for 6/17/2009

Monmouth Park

Race 6: # 2 Earlswood Pete just edged his foes last out and should win again today. He steps up in class for this run but seems to fit in these turf claimers. This distance fits him well and surely he can fire big again. With Elvis Trujillo in the irons look for Earlswood Pete to double up today.

Race 8: # 1 Yorktown returns to the turf today and has the skill needed to get the job done today. He didn't show much in his US debut but that was over the poly at Keeneland and he should improve moving to the grass and facing softer today. He gets Jersey Joe Bravo in the irons which will be key. Look for a return to the winner's circle for Yorktown today.

Woodbine

Race 2: # 2 Captain Mark lacked late punch last out but should recover and run well tonight. He was making his first start of the year last out and may have needed that race. He stretches out today from 6 1/2 furlongs to 1 1/16 miles which is key and his breeding indicates he should love the added distance. Since that last race he has put in two solid workouts and should be ready to roll with Emma-Jayne Wilson in the saddle
