Spot Play for 9/27/2009

Arlington Park

Race 2: # 1 Airtight didn't show anything in his debut but should improve today. He drops in class for this effort and move to the grass which could help him. His breeding suggest he may improve on the lawn and comes from a barn that is very strong. E. T. Baird rides which is a very good sign.

Spot Plays for 9/26/2009

Turfway Park

Race 7: # 3 Mountain Trail makes his second start today and should move forward off of his last. He lacked late punch over the Hoosier oval last time and may enjoy the poly at Turfway better. Offsprings of Cactus Ridge do very well over this oval and the jock switch to Joe Johnson might be key. Look for a winning effort from Mountain Trail today.

Race 10: # 10 Indescribable returns to all-weather racing today and should find the winner's circle. She has been going backwards lately but those efforts were against tougher on the turf at Saratoga. She moves back to polytrack where she has four of her six wins and gets Garret Gomez which is always a plus. Look for a good effort from Indescribable today.

Race 12: # 4 Big Push loves all-weather surfaces and should excel in his Turfway debut. He has three of his four wins on all-weather surfaces and trains over one at Fair Hill in Maryland. He has been working well for this effort and with Robby Albarado aboard look for a winning effort from Big Push today.

Race 13: # 9 Dubious Miss is rounding into form and should get home first today. He was a decent second last out over poly at Arlington and seems to handle it just as well as dirt. He gets the riding services of Calvin Borel who has never lost on this runner and should extend his win streak on Dubious Miss today.

Presque Isle Downs

Race 6: # 10 Angus Kahn is one for one over this oval and should return to his winning ways today. He didn't handle the dirt too well last out but seems to be a better runner on all-weather ovals. Since his last he has fired four strong workouts over the polytrack at Keeneland and seems fit to fire today. Ronnie Allen, Jr. rides which is key.

Spot Plays for 9/23/2009

Belmont Park

Race 3: # 6 Malibu Prayer drops from graded stakes company for this effort and should improve. She just tired a little alst time and this shorter distance will be what she needs. Her last run over the Belmont oval was a second behind Rachel the Great so hopefully she learned something from that effort. She has lost to some great horses in the past and hopefully her class will show through today.

Turfway Park

Race 3: # 2 Diva At the Top makes her third start off of a layoff today and should step forward. She won off the bench and may have regressed in her last. A little time off and a return to her favorite surface should be key for Diva At the Top. Perry Ouzts retains the mount which is a good sign.

Race 6: # 4 Distorted Gem makes his second start off of a layoff and could be ready for this effort. He likes this oval and might have been over his head last out. Drops in claiming price today which should be key. He likes this oval and should step forward today.

Spot Plays for 9/20/2009

Belmont Park

Race 6: # 6 Asphalt ran okay in his debut and should improve greatly today. He is bred to love the turf and trying it today should be the key to victory. His last race might be key as the second place finisher came back to win. With Ramon Dominguez aboard look for a winning effort from Asphalt today.

Woodbine

Race 4: # 6 Points of Grace returns to her favorite surface and should improve today. She got bumped around last time against much tougher at Arlington and could step forward with a cleaner trip. Her last run over the Woodbine turf was a winning one and with the underrated Luis Contreras aboard look for a good run from Points of Grace today.

Race 8: # 5 Marsh Side has been working well for this effort and should fire well today. He might have been a little tired after coming back from Dubai and didn't run all that well in his two return outings. Since then he has had some time off and some strong works out in California and one decent work over the oval. He won last year's Canadian International and could be getting ready to defend his title. Look for a good run from Marsh Side today.

Race 10: # 5 Bribon is a flat mile specialist and should run big today. He might be better on dirt than turf but he can handle the lawn okay. He has won or been competitive in some of the best mile races in the U.S. and should fire today. Look for Alan Garcia to guide Bribon home first today.

Spot Plays for 9/19/2009

Woodbine

Race 5: # 6 Elusive Galaxy just missed against graded company last out and should move forward today. She faced tough foes back in Ireland and should have a class edge over this group. She gets lasix for the first time today and the riding services of Rafael Bejarano which will be key. Look for a winning effort from Elusive Galaxy today

Race 8: # 8 Fantastico Roberto ships north of the boarder for this effort and should run big today. His connections paid good money to get him into this race so he must be ready to roll. He scratched out of a race on Labor Day and has a good work since then for this start. Chris DeCarlo ships up for the mount

Louisiana Downs

Race 8: # 8 William's Kitten was roughed up in his last start and hopefully he can improve from that run. Since that effort he has put in a solid workout and his last start might be key as the winner has come back to win since that effort. He gets Garret Gomez aboard which is very positive. If the race stays on the grass look for William's Kitten to run big today.

Turfway Park/Kentucky Downs

Race 3: # 6 Blushing Bear didn't show much against tougher in France last out and should improve today. She has been working well since shipping to the states and should enjoy a little firmer footing. With Rosemary Homeister, Jr. aboard look for a good effort from Blushing Bear today.

Race 8: # 7 Maestro Miss makes her first start today and should run well. Her works have been okay and her breeding suggest she can handle polytrack and this long distance. Ken McPeek does wonders with two-year-olds and should have Maestro Miss ready to roll in her debut.

Race 10: # 6 Hold the Salt smashed a 19-year-old track record in his last outing at River and should run a big race today. He loves this oval with two wins from two starts and should have an advantage over this bunch. His last out may be key as the second place finisher came back to win in his next out. Look for a big run from Hold the Salt today.

Arlington Park

Race 5: # 8 Maple Heights is bred to run all day on the lawn and should fire first out today. Her works have been strong for the debut and she gets Jesse Campbell who has been on fire as of late. The outside post will not hurt and surely Maple Heights can run a big one today.

Spot Plays for 9/18/2009

Belmont Park

Race 3: # 2 Midshipman returns from the bench today and the 2-year-old champion of last year should be ready to fire fresh. He has been workings strongly for this debut and he is bred to handle this distance. This biggest question is how will he handle conventional dirt but that shouldn't be a problem for him. He goes to a new barn and gets a new jock in Richard Migliore and hopefully they can get home on top today.

Race 8: # 4 Inca King steps back up in class for this effort but should run well today. He won against high-end claimers last out and that field was pretty tough. He has the back class to fit in this spot and should get home first today. Shaun Bridgmohan rides for Steve Asmussen

Race 8: # 9 Cosmic King woke up last out on the turf and should handle this move up in class. His last race looks key as the second place finisher has come back to win on the turf at Arlington. Since his last run he has put in two strong workouts and should be fit for this run. With Junior Alvarado aboard look for a winning effort from Cosmic King today.

Turfway Park

Race 9: # 1 Lady Seattle returns to her favorite oval and should turn things around today. She hasn't shown much as of late but she didn't take to the turf at Indy or the all-weather at Presque Isle. All of her wins are over this oval and surface and hopefully she can improve her form. With Julio Felix aboard look for a winning effort today.

Belmont Park

Race 6: # 4 Union Strike drops from stakes company for this effort and should run well today. He needs some pace to chase and should get it in this spot. He ran okay in his last couple and the drop to claiming company should wake him up. The team of Bridgmohan and Steve Asmussen are solid and should get Union Strik home first today.

Arlington Park

Race 8: # 10 My Man Moran shortens up for this effort and should step forward today. A mile might have been too far for him so hopefully he can carry his speed. He takes the blinkers off today so surely he can relax and control the pace. With the lucky charm James Graham aboard look for a good effort from My Man Moran

Race 10: # 9 Omega Cat drops from stakes company today and could run big. She was in over her head last out and should enjoy the move to allowance company. She gets Junior Alvarado which is key and should guide Omega Cat home first today.

Spot Plays for 9/16/2009

Belmont Park

Race 4: # 2 Coffee Run makes her debut today and should run well today. She has been working strongly for this debut and seems fit to fire. She is bred to handle this distance and comes from a decent barn. She gets Javier Castellano aboard which could be key as well. Look for a good debut from Coffee Run today.

Race 5: The entry of # 2 Whydah and 2b Flyinglouy look ready to run on the lawn today. Whydah ran poorly in an off the turf race at Saratoga and should improve getting on the grass today. Flyinglouy makes her debut today but his bred to handle the grass and this 7 furlong distance fits her nicely. Look for these Todd Pletcher trainees to run well today.

Turfway Park

Race 5: # 2 Flatter Me Rose drops to a level that she likes and should improve today. She does well over this oval and seems to like the all-weather surface. Her last attempt at this level was a winning one and hopefully she can put it together today. Tony Farina keeps the mount today.

Spot Plays for 9/13/2009

Belmont Park

Race 3: # 6 Street Sucess makes her debut today and should fire first off today. She comes from a very sharp barn and Todd Beattie doesn't ship to Belmont often but he comes ready to roll. He gets his go to rider in Ramon Dominguez who should get a good trip for Street Sucess today.

Race 9: # 5 Colony stretches out in distance today and should run well. He has made some strong moves at much shorter distances and will improve at this 1 3/8 mile distance. He comes from a sharp barn and gets one of the most underrated riders around in Rajiv Maragh. Look for a big run from Colony today.

Turfway Park

Race 9: # 4 Oliver's Cove returns from the bench today and should fire fresh off the layoff. He is unbeaten over all-weather surfaces and should step up in this race today. He has been working well for this return and should be ready to roll today with Dean Sarvis in the irons.

Arlington Park

Race 4: # 3 Corredor Dela Isla makes his turf debut today and should run well. He just missed last out over the poly at a mile and should be in a good stalking spot in this two-turn affair. He is making his third start off of a layoff and gets the riding services of E.T. Baird who is the money man at AP. Look for a winning effort from Corredor Dela Isla today.

Presque Isle Downs

Race 7: # 4 Cherokee Artist just missed last out over this oval and should step forward today. He has been off since July but has strong workouts to show he is ready for this return. He has good all-weather form and should fit nicely in this spot, Jeremy Rose picks up the mount which could be key today.

Spot Plays for 9/12/2009

Belmont Park

Race 7: # 7 Unbridled Fury makes his debut today and should be ready to roll today. He has put in some solid works for this effort and should have no problem handling the off going as the track should have some water in it. His barn has been solid this season and should have Unbridled Fury good to go for the debut.

Race 8: # 8 Maram has done nothing wrong in her four starts and should make it five for five today. Her last effort off the bench was solid and since then she has put in some good works including a best of 16 over the turf at Saratoga. She has handled soft grass in the past and should have no issues with it today. With Jose Lezcano in the irons look for a big run from Maram today.

Turfway Park

Race 9: # 4 Gangbuster ships back east for this effort and should improve greatly today. He loves these all-weather surfaces and seems to fire best at these long distances. Since his trip to Del Mar he has put in a good work over the Arlington polytrack and looks to be in good shape. He gets Leandro Gonclaves aboard who has been red hot so far at Turfway and should guide Gangbuster home first today.

Presque Isle Downs

Race 7: # 9 Informed Decision comes back on short rest for this effort and should fire today. She didn't handle the slop at all last time and hopefully we can draw a line through that race. She handles all-weather surfaces just fine and is normally based at Presque Isle so hopefully she has home-field advantage. She keeps her regular rider aboard in Julien Leparoux and surely they can get home on top today.

Spot Plays for 9/11/2009: God Bless America!!!

Monmouth Park

Race 5: # 2 More Than a Kiss makes her turf debut today and should improve today. She showed nothing last out over the dirt but she is bred to handle grass better. Plus her last effort was in the mud and she might not have taken to that surface. Switching to grass should be the key. Look for More Than a Kiss to pop at a price today.

Race 7: # 10 Berning Blaze drops in class for this effort and seems fit to fire today. He might have been over his head in that starter at the Spa and returning to his favorite track could be just what the doctor ordered. He gets the riding services of Carlos Marquez, Jr. who might be the best turf rider around. Look for a big effort from Berning Blaze today.

Belmont Park

Race 4: # 2 World Record ran evenly last out and should improve off of that effort. He is bred to run longer so look for improvement at this one mile distance. Since that last run he has put in an okay work up at Saratoga to prep for this outing and should fire today. Javier Castellano keeps the mount today.

Race 5: # 8 Eto'o make a nice move in his debut and has the skills to improve off of that run. Streching out should be the key for this son of Van Nistelroy and hopefully he can get the job done. Jose Lezcano stays aboard which is a good sign.

Arlington Park

Race 5: # 4 Sarahs Son makes his AP debut and should run well. He drops in class from stakes company to starter allowance and should catch a softer field today. He has run well on the turf in the past and hopefully he can adapt to the Arlington turf today. He gets James Graham aboard which could be the key to victory today. Look for another win for Sarahs Son today.

Turfway Park

Race 7: # 6 Lou's Angel makes his debut today and should fire first off the bat. Offsprings of Cactus Ridge seem to love the polytrack at Turfway and hopefully this one follows in the footsteps of others. He has been working strong for this run and gets Pablo Tolentino in the irons which should be key.

Monmouth Park

Race 7: # 3 Suzzona drops in class for this run and should improve today. She stalked the pace in her last and just faded and could improve. That last effort might be a key race as the second place finisher has come back to win. She keeps Carlos Marquez, Jr. in the irons who is one of the most underrated turf jocks in the land. Look for improvement from Suzzona today.

Arlington Park

Race 10: # 1 Ready to Romp just missed last out against similar and should win for fun today. She returns off a short break and has been working well for this return. He gets a new jock in Junior Alvarado who is the best at Arlington and should guide Ready to Romp home first.

Turfway Park

Race 6: # 2 Cosmic Star returns to his favorite all-weather surface and should turn things around at a price. He is a true horse for course with 5 of his 10 wins coming over this oval and surface and hopefully he can step forward. Draw a line through the last effort and he should run well tonight.

Race 8: # 4 Liver returns to all-weather racing and should return to his winning ways. He put in two okay efforts over the conventional dirt at River but is much better on all-weather with most of his wins coming over Tapeta at Golden Gate. Look for a return to winning for Liver today.

Race 6: # 8 Bwana Babe ships to Delaware for the first time and should improve greatly today. She has been facing much tougher at Calder and the drop to maiden claimers should fit her well. She gets a jock switch to David Cohen who is riding strong and should guide Bwana Babe to the wire first today.

Del Mar

Race 8: # 3 Wild Promises makes her second start off of the bench and should run big today. She had a string of wins before throwing in a clunker at Gulfstream and might have needed a break after that. Since then she won for fun at Santa Rosa and put in a few strong works for this effort. Hopefully she can get the job done with her regular rider David Lopez in the saddle

Race 1: # 7 Absolutelystriking ran third in her debut and should move forward today. He wanted to get on the grass last out and was rained off so hopefully getting on the turf today will be key. He is bred to like the grass and hopefully he learned from his last outing. Look for a big run from Absolutelystriking today.

Turfway Park

Race 7: # Nola's Star cuts her claiming price in half for this effort and should run well today. She has been running over the turf at River but seems to like polytrack more with three wins over the all-weather. She really likes Turfway's poly and should be fit to fire. She gets the barn's goto rider in Yuri Yaranga and they should get home first today.

River Downs

Race 9: # 5 Fantastico Roberto returns to grass racing today looking to get in the winner's circle for the first time in the U.S. His last race might be key as the winner and the second place finisher came back to finish 1, 2 in a grade 3 stakes at Arlington over the weekend. He gets first time Lasix for today which could be key and his breeding suggest this distance will not be an issue. Chris DeCarlo comes in for the mount on this Todd Pletcher trainee and should guide him home first today.

Saratoga

Race 2: # 7 Pearly Blue makes her debut on the lawn today and should run big today. She is bred to run long and on the grass so this spot shouldn't hurt her any. She comes from a sharp barn and gets one of the hotter jockeys on the grounds in Kent Desormeaux which could be key. Look for a big run from Pearly Blue today.

Race 6: # 2 Billions Boy stretches out today and should improve today. He has been closing well in his last couple sprinting on the grass and surely he can handle the distance. His last work was good and he keeps Rajiv Maragh aboard which is positive. Look for a big effort from Billions Boy today.

Race 10: # 9 Liston is a well-bred son of Storm Cat who should run big in his stakes debut today. His racing debut was very impressive as he controlled the pace and never looked back. He should be on or near the lead and hopefully get a clean trip. With Rajiv Maragh picking up the mount look for a winning effort from Liston today.

Arlington Park

Race 6: # 4 Caberneigh stretches out in distance today and should fire strongly. He has been closing well in his last couple and seems to want to go longer He gets leading jockey Junior Alvarado abord who has been lights out as of late and should get a good trip for Caberneigh today. Look for a good run from him today.

Race 5: # 10 Whl ships to River for the first time and this son of Gone West should excel today. He has improved in each of his starts and should be rounding into good form. Since his last effort at Indy he has been working well over the polytrack at Turfway so hopefully he is fit. He runs for a strong barn and gets Perry Ouzts in the irons which could be key. Look for a good effort from Whl today.

Monmouth

Race 4: # 5 King of Soul gets on the grass for the first time today and should run well today. He is bred to run on grass and has been trying and couldn't get on the lawn. Since his last effort he has been working strong and gets a solid rider in Elvis Trujillo who should guide King of Soul to the wire first today.

Remington Park

Race 1: # 1 Kitty's Turn ran okay in his debut and should improve greatly today. He comes out of a key race as the winner returned to win again and his workouts suggest he's fir for today's run. He's bred to run on the lawn and should put in a big effort today.

Spot Plays for 9/5/2009

River Downs

Race 10: # 3 The War Department makes her first start in Ohio and this buckeye-bred daughter of Lost Solider looks to make it a winning one. She enjoyed the strechout last time over the Indy turf course and since then she has been working well down a Keeneland for a return to the races. She gets a new jock in Edgar Paucar who has been hot as of late and should guide The War Department to the winner's circle today.

Race 12: # 6 Jody Slew won for fun in her River debut and should double up today. She has worked well since her start over this oval and her breeding suggest she will only improve with each start. With Perry Ouzts in the irons look for a big run from Jody Slew today.

Saratoga

Race 5: # 5 King Kitten finally gets on the grass today and should run big today. The connecitons tried to get him on the grass last out and the race got rained off the turf. His effort in that race was decent enough and since that run his morning works have been really strong. He gets one of the better turf riders in Julien Leparoux in the saddle which will be key. Look for a winning effort from King Kitten today.

River Downs

Race 7: # 8 Strong as Stone drops in class slightly for this effort and should step up greatly today. He stretches out so hopefully the pace will be a bit softer than last time and he gets a clear lead. He seems to outclass this bunch and with Edgar Paucar aboard look for a big effort from Strong as Stone today.

Saratoga

Race 3: # 3 Paddy O'Prado just missed in his turf debut and should find the going to his liking today. There wasn't much pace on in the last and he still closed like a train and hopefully with the added pace he can get home on top. He gets a jock switch to Robby Albarado who is starting to heat up and hopefully Paddy O'Prado can get home first today.

Remington Park

Race 2: # 7 Martini Meadow makes her third start on the lawn today and should take another step forward. She has improved in each of her last few starts and hopefully she is going in the right direction. She showed some speed last out and surely can get home on top today with Martin Escobar aboard

Race 3: # 5 Write When Ready excelled when she got on the grass last time and should run another big race today. Her last was against weaker but she was very impressive and has worked strongly since her last outing. She ships up to the Spa for the first time but should be ready to handle the task. Look for a big run from Write When Ready today.

Race 6: # 2 Striking Dancer ran well in her return from the bench and hopefully can step forward from that. She drops in class from stakes company which should be key and her one work since that outing is okay. She keeps Robby Albarado aboard which is key and should get her home on top today.

Race 8: # 6 Afternoon Stroll ran okay last out over a course she may not have liked and should run well today. She is a graded stakes winner and when on her game she run bigs races. She gets Jamie Theriot back aboard who rode her to her graded stakes win and should guide Afternoon Stroll home firs today.

She is bred to handle the turf and most offsprings of Kitten's Joy handle long distances just fine. She has been training well for this debut and comes from a barn that's been good this season. Race 1: # 8 California Smart trys turf for the first time today and should fire big. His breeding shows he can handle the grass and he has been improving in each of his Mountaineer starts. The barn has been cold but hopefully he can turn things around for them. Jesus Barria keeps the mount today.
