Spot Plays for 9/7/2009

River Downs

Race 9: # 5 Fantastico Roberto returns to grass racing today looking to get in the winner's circle for the first time in the U.S. His last race might be key as the winner and the second place finisher came back to finish 1, 2 in a grade 3 stakes at Arlington over the weekend. He gets first time Lasix for today which could be key and his breeding suggest this distance will not be an issue. Chris DeCarlo comes in for the mount on this Todd Pletcher trainee and should guide him home first today.

Saratoga

Race 2: # 7 Pearly Blue makes her debut on the lawn today and should run big today. She is bred to run long and on the grass so this spot shouldn't hurt her any. She comes from a sharp barn and gets one of the hotter jockeys on the grounds in Kent Desormeaux which could be key. Look for a big run from Pearly Blue today.

Race 6: # 2 Billions Boy stretches out today and should improve today. He has been closing well in his last couple sprinting on the grass and surely he can handle the distance. His last work was good and he keeps Rajiv Maragh aboard which is positive. Look for a big effort from Billions Boy today.

Race 10: # 9 Liston is a well-bred son of Storm Cat who should run big in his stakes debut today. His racing debut was very impressive as he controlled the pace and never looked back. He should be on or near the lead and hopefully get a clean trip. With Rajiv Maragh picking up the mount look for a winning effort from Liston today.

Arlington Park

Race 6: # 4 Caberneigh stretches out in distance today and should fire strongly. He has been closing well in his last couple and seems to want to go longer He gets leading jockey Junior Alvarado abord who has been lights out as of late and should get a good trip for Caberneigh today. Look for a good run from him today.
