Spot Plays for 6/21/2009

River Downs

Race 5: # 8 Yankee Lad makes his second start today and should improve greatly. He closed well over the poly at Turfway and will enjoy the extra distance. He steps up in class to the maiden special weight level but his breeding indicates that he should handle the step up. Moving to the turf could be key for this runner being out of a Lear Fan mare. Jeff Thornbury doesn't ship to River very often but when he does he comes loaded. Look for a winning run from Yankee Lad today.

Arlington Park

Race 2: # 8 Tucky just missed last out and should get to the winner's circle today. He is bred to run on the lawn and finally gets on it. Since getting off of dirt his form has improved and hopefully getting to grass for the first time will key a victory. James Graham has been aboard for both of this runners better effort and hopefully third time can be the lucky charm today.

Race 5: # 9 Gran Estreno is looking to stay undefeated over the AP oval and has a big shot today. He steps up in class but is in good form and his breeding and past races show he can handle this level. His early speed will be key here as there isn't that much early lick for this distance. The Mike Stidham barn has done nothing wrong so far this season and should have another winner with Gran Estreno today.

Race 7: # 1 Macho Camacho is my longshot play and should spring a massive upset in this extended route today. Alot of times these races come up short on early speed and this race is no different. Macho Camacho is the only speed runner in this spot plus he draws the rail so should get the shortest trip around the track. Picks up the bug boy Roan Vargas so he gets a break in weights. Look for Macho Camacho to throw the knockout punch early.

Race 9: # 2 Voy Por Uno Mas drops from graded stakes company for this run and should get home on top today. He set the pace last out and just couldn't hold on. That pace was alot quicker than what he will see today and hopefully he can settle and catch a breather early. He loves the turf and should have no issues with the switch in surface. With Junior Alvarado in the look for the fan club to have something to celebrate today.
