Spot Plays for 8/29/2009

Saratoga

Race 2: # 7 Much Rejoicing makes his debut today and should run a big race. This distance should fit him just fine and with the expected rain he should love the off going. His works look pretty good especially the one in the mud this week and hopefully he can pop at a price with Alan Garcia aboard.

Race 9: # 3 Closeout likes the turf course when its a little soft and surely can run a bit race today. Her last race was very good and since then she has put in a few strong workouts over this oval and seems to be fit. She keeps Robby Albarado aboard which could be key and hopefully they can spring the upset today.

Race 11: # 2 Munnings shortens up in distance today and should be much more effective in this spot. He is much better at these sprint distances and doesn't need the lead to be effective at the seven furlong trip. There should be enough speed for him to just lay off the pace and surely he can get off the fence and make a big run. Look for a return to the winner's circle for Munnings today.

Race 12: # 6 Summer Bird ran gamely last out and should take another step forward today. His last run was the first since winning the Belmont and he ran into a buzzsaw last time that should be horse of the year. He should have some pace to chase today and if he gets the same trip he got in the Belmont he should win. He looks to duplicate what his sire did by winning the Belmont and the Travers and surely Summer Bird can come home on top today.
