Spot Plays for 5/17/2009

River Downs

Race 6: # 7 Keep Sam In Cheq takes a drop in class for this effort and should turn things around today. He has been way over his head in the last couple and this drop to the softer condition will help. He likes an off going and with all the ran in the area as of late the track should be good and wet. Look for Keep Sam In Cheq to pop at a price today

Race 7: # 3 Oriental Princess makes one of my favorite moves today and should be tough to beat. I love horses turning back from the lawn to the main track and more importantly she ran well in that turf outing. She returns to state-bred competition today which is another key. She gets a new jock today in Edgar Paucar who is quietly having a good meet here at River. Look for Oriental Princess to take the top spot as the Cincinnati Kid Play of the Day!!!

Arlington

Race 3: # 3 Gun Salute returns to Arlington today for a new barn and should add another win to his resume today. He faced much softer at Keeneland and was claimed out of that effort. Hopefully he does well for his new barn. He has handled turf as well as polytrack and surely he can get the job done today. Jesse Campbell picks up the mount today

Race 9: # 1 Bar Babe ships in from Oaklawn today looking to get back to the winner's circle today. She has run two decent efforts since breaking her maiden and should enjoy the added furlong today. She has a few decent workouts over the oval and Oaklawn shippers have been hot early on at Arlington. With Eddie Razo, Jr. in the saddle look for a winning effort from Bar Babe today

Churchill Downs

Race 5: # 5 Soda Jerk makes his debut today looking to find the wire at first asking. He has been working up a storm at Keeneland and seems to be fit for this run. Offsprings of Smarty Jones are winning everything in sight as of late and trainer Rusty Arnold is off to a solid start at this Churchill meeting. Look for a winning effort from Soda Jerk today.

Race 9: # 4 Tizdejavu returns off the bench today and really outclasses this bunch. He was last seen setting the pace in a grade 1 at Arlington last year and might have been slightly over his head. His career really took off last season on this turf course with a pair of big wins in graded stakes company. He has been working well for this return and gets the best turf rider on the ground in Julien Leparoux. Look for a return to the winner's cirlce for Tizdejavu today
