Spot Plays for 5/30/2009

River Downs

Race 5: # 4 Buzz Bunny makes his second start for new connections today and should take another step forward. His last effort was second off the poly and he showed some promise. He may have needed that last effort to get fit and he has won over this oval before so he shouldn't have any issues handling the surface. He gets the riding services of Edgar Paucar which is a positive sign. Look for a big run from Buzz Bunny today.

Race 7: # 4 The Potters Hand returns to his favorite surface today and should run much better today. He has never seemed to handle dirt so running on grass today should work to his favor. He does okay here at River and could be fit with this being his second start off of a slight layoff If ready look for a winning effort from The Potters Hand today

Race 11: # 7 Hurley's Way makes his Ohio debut today looking to get back to the winner's circle today. He has been based out in Cali facing much tougher at Hollywood, Oak Tree and Del Mar. In the past he has faced the likes of Chocolate Candy and I Want Revenge so we know he has been in tough. He has a workout over this oval and should be in good shape today. In the barn of Dougie Cowans for the first time look for Hurley's Way to top the ticket with Rodney Prescott in the saddle.

Arlington Park

Race 8: # 5 Trojan War won well in his Arlington debut and looks to make it two in a row today. Since that last run he has put in a solid workout over the oval to get ready and should be able to handle the stretchout to 6 1/2 furlongs today. The Donnie Von Hemel barn is on fire this season and Quincy Hamilton is on the hunt for win number 1,000. Look for a big effort from Trojan War today.

Churchill Downs

Race 6: # 9 Queen of Empire makes her debut today looking to get the job done at first asking. She is bred to handle the distance as well as the turf and seems to be fit. She has a string of workouts to get prepped and gets the riding services of Corey Lanerie who is quietly having a solid season at Churchill. Look for Queen of Empire to be crowned victorious today.

Race 8: # 2 Hightap returns from a layoff today looking to regain her winning form today. She had put together two winning efforts before shipping to Oaklawn and didn't show anything there. Since then she has put in a few decent workouts over the Churchill oval and seems to be in shape. She runs for the hottest connections on the grounds in Bridgmohan and Asmusssen and should find the wire first today.

Race 10: # 9 Bold Start steps up in class today but seems ready for the challenge. He always seems to run well over this oval and should grab that elusive graded stakes win he has been seeking. He is a much better runner on dirt than turf and the Ken McPeek barn is really cooking right now. Look for a big win from Bold Start today.
