Spot Plays for 5/31/2009

River Downs

Race 1: # 5 Noneofyourbeeswax makes her debut today and seems ready to run big right off the bat. She is nicely bred and has a string of sharp workouts that show she is good to go. She gets a speed mined rider in Perry Ouzts who should get her out of the gate quickly. Look for this Mike Rone trainee to run away from the field today.

Race 3: # 3 Aurora's Secret steps up in class today but should run his best race and spring the upset. His last effort was big and he dispatched of a decent group of $4,000 claimers. Stepping up the the $5,000 shouldn't be an issue as he has faced similar in the past and done very well. He owns three wins over this oval and should make it four today with Yuri Yaranga in the saddle.

Race 7: # 2 Redhot Runner makes his third start off of the bench and has a chance to upset the field today. He has some tactical speed so he should be close to the lead. He doesn't need the lead to win but does need to sit close to the pace in the early stages. He needed that last effort and should be fit and ready to rock in this spot today.

Arlington Park

Race 6: # 6 One True Thing darted to the lead last out and just faded on a turf course that might have been too heavy for him. Getting on a course with a little less water in it should help him carry that speed. That last run was his first in a couple of months and he might have needed that run. Chris Emigh remains in the saddle which is a good sign.

Race 8: # 5 Jenna Lu Hu ran well in her return to the turf and hopefully can parlay that into a victory today. She had been facing weaker until that last run and showed a ton of promise in that run. She gets back on the grass today and gets a new jock in E. T. Baird who is riding very well so far at Arlington. Look for Jena Lu Hu to return victorious today.

Churchill Downs

Race 5: # 5 Happenstance returns to her favorite surface and should get the job done today. Her best effort was on the lawn and she didn't seem to take to the polytrack at all. Since her last start she has put in a few decent workouts to get ready and gets the riding services of Shaun Bridgmohan who is quielty having a decent meet at Churchill. Look for Happenstance to turn things around today.

Race 8: # 6 Jazz Nation drops in class today looking to regain his winning form. He has been over his head lately facing the likes of Semaphore Man, Chamberlain Bridge and Mr. Nightlinger and lucky for him none of them are in this spot. Since his last effort he has a decent work over the oval and surely can get the job done today. Miguel Mena rides for D. Wayne Lukas
